Found this quote in a 1960s “Reader for Writers” book and it reminded me of the Joan Didion quote I wrote about the other day.

To hear someone else say they feel like they have no access to their own mind, no idea what’s going on inside until they sort it out on paper… Thank you. I feel less crazy.
A few Monday things:
-Saw Country Strong today with Molly Pate Bloom (I’m finding I’m not good at banishing maiden names of friends, so everyone gets to sound like a Lucy Stoner when I talk about you). Anyways, I thought Gwyneth Paltrow did such a good job and I just like Leighton Meester so much. It’s a sad one (be warned), but I liked it a lot.

My Clippings.
My Kindle has this function where it compiles all my little notes and highlighted passages that I’ve made in the books I’ve read (the kindle ones that is). It’s handy, but what I like is that the folder it collects my notes in is called “My Clippings”. I think that’s a fitting name. It makes me think of a really great bulletin board with highlighted book pages...
Heidegger's Glasses by Thaisa Frank
I just finished this book. It was a really interesting angle on WWII and Nazi Germany and I always like reading books that teach me something about history… I don’t think it was the most gripping narrative ever, but she had this delicately introspective and descriptive writing style that I really appreciated… I’d say overall, like a 6 or 7 on the 10 scale.

I just remembered a time several months ago when I was (relatively) tan. It feels like another universe. Lucas is tan 365 days a year… but my tan requires warm weather so I can actually exist outside.
